The use of public funds in order to edit a calendar using an image of the well-known fascist and anti-Semitic writer Nyirő József does not fall under the provisions of O.U.G. no. 31/2002 (which forbids the celebration of those guilty of crimes against peace and humanity). This is the opinion of the Prosecutor’s Office Court from Odorheiul Secuiesc, after I petitioned them against the decision of Tamasi Aron Highschool’s Director to promote the fascist writer Nyirő József by including an image of him in their calendar. The Hungarian author, born in Romania, was a member of a fascist party, a declared anti-Semite and violently assaulted Romanians while cheering for the entry of Miklos Horthy´s army in Northern Transylvania. So how much did he do? – If he did not kill anyone then he can be glorified freely; his anti-Semitic and anti-Romanian conduct can be overlooked.
In April this year I published a piece about the Prosecutor’s Office Court from Gheorgheni who decided not to prosecute some local council members who glorified, inside the City Council´s meeting room, the war criminal Albert Wass.
Both “personalities” are promoted by the political and civic elite of ethnic Hungarians living in Romania just because they had and advocated strong anti-Romanian feelings, revisionism and chauvinism.
Both “personalities” are revered by the extremist government from Hungary, led by Viktor Orban, precisely because they are symbols of the fight for the dream of Greater Hungary. The writings of both “personalities” are disputed even by intellectuals in Hungary.
In return, Romania tolerates the cult of personality of the two, inside public institutions of the Romanian state and sometimes even using public funds. Since the glorification of Albert Wass and Nyirő József involve public funds and public institutions (moreover, some public institutions are involved in the exoneration of the two) we can say without a doubt that neo-fascism is a state policy in the counties of Covasna and Harghita and this is done with the tacital consent of the government in Bucharest.
To hell with the Romanians killed at the order of Hungarian Lord Wass Albert, says the Romanian Government lead by Victor Ponta! Who is interested that Nyirő József started attacking Romanians to prepare for the invasion of Miklos Horthy´s army in Northern Transylvania? Victor Ponta´s Government certainly is not! The authorities in Bucharest have forgotten the international scandal from May 2012, when Jewish communities both in the U.S. and Israel were shocked that a fascist like Nyirő József is openly promoted by Hungary. Meanwhile, in Romania we see total silence and outright mockery of the memory of the Romanians who suffered at the actions of these Hungarian “personalities”.
The attitude of the Romanian public institutions and the Romanian Government concerning the commemoration and the glorification of the two on Romanian soil is miserable and despicable. Whether we talk about the Liberals, the Social Democrats or the Liberal Democrats, they have all sacrificed the memory of the victims for the sake of governing alongside The Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (DAHR). Politicians without any national dignity deride the victims of the two becoming over the years accomplices.
"Din zei de-am fi scoborâtori,
C-o moarte tot suntem datori!
Totuna e dac-ai murit
Flăcău ori moș îngârbovit;
Dar nu-i totuna leu să mori
Ori câine-nlănțuit."
